20. Sihlwald, Zurich, Switzerland, Aug. 17, 1912. A view in an old stand. Two reproduction cuttings have been made in the forest in the foreground. One in the forest in the background. Spruce in the forest in the foreground up to 31 in. In diameter and 130 ft. high. Some trees in this forest attain a height of 140 ft. This is the best and most valuable type of forest for this region. The entire Sihlwald of 1000 hectares is in two cutting series extending from north to south. The cutting series lines, however, are very irregular because of variations in topography in stand.
